Squirt passed away last night at roughly 9.31 P.M. at the age of nine months old.
I am not going to go too much into how she died. Basically, she left us as soon as I reached home, allowing me to carry her one last time. She was still breathing lightly when my mum thrust her into my hands, wrapped in a towel. It was as if she was waiting for me to come home before she let herself go. Eventually, the breathing stopped.

October 2009 – May 6th 2010.
Squirt fell sick previously in March 2010 with multiple ailments, but made a miraculous recovery eventually thanks to the dedicated force-feeding of food, fluid and medication by virtually almost every member of the household. The vet was amazed, so were friends who heard her survival story – because like what everyone says, guinea pigs go very fast when they are sick.
She remained happily active for one month plus until a heatwave decided to descend on Singapore again. The excessively hot weather led to her developing with a (dangerously) high fever of 41.3 degrees celsius earlier this week. She remained relatively stable but deteriorated sharply yesterday evening out of the blue.
I will really miss my little Squirtypoo and her hilarious little antics.
Squirt’s still fighting for her recovery, and I’m doing the best I can to ensure that it’s a smooth one. She’s regained most of her feisty, stubborn personality and is back to kissing me for her food again. (Although she still doesn’t eat much of it.)
She’s becoming increasingly protective of her litter tray, as the following pictures will show.

Squirt has an interesting coat pattern, and a pair of really soulful eyes with a facial expression that constantly screams emo. As such, it really looked as though she was shooting me this disapproving stare when I tried to wash her litter tray this afternoon.
Here’s an closeup of that disapproving look I’ve grown to love so dearly.

Altogether now. Awwwwww.
Hello, 2010. Goodbye, 2009.
2009 was a really crappy year, possibly the worst year I’ve ever had during my 23-year lifespan and I can’t want for it to disappear fast enough. 2010 is finally upon us, and I hope it’ll treat me well.
Here’s my 2009 in a nutshell. How was yours?
January
(+) Travelled to Hong Kong with one of my bestest girlfriends – just the two of us in a strange land, but we didn’t get lost because yours’ truly has an inbuilt GPS in her head. Hurhur.
(+) A distant cousin returned to Singapore for Chinese New Year, and it was a fantabulous reunion with an attempted solar eclipse watching (there was a partial eclipse that day), being dragged to a movie, and a catching-up session at Starbuck’s thereafter.
February
(+) Auditioned for Virtuoso ‘2009 – a singing competition. Passed the audition round and advanced to the Quarter Finals.
(-) Had to make a decision whether to travel to Macau for a group project. Hem and hawed, decided to go and eventually backed out … before deciding to go again. I think the professor and teaching assistant were extremely pissed with me.
(-) Performed my song during the Virtuoso ‘2009 quarter-final, forgot my lyrics midway and subsequently went off-key. My video playback showed me screeching like an injured cat. Eventually deleted the video from my camera, never to be seen again. Had a good laugh about it, though.
(+) Secondary school reunion. Gee, almost everyone looks the same as they used to … six years ago. It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?
